Talent is a strong word but Plain White T's
definitely have it. Tom Higgenson is the
lead vocalist/songwriter with Dave Tirio-
guitar, Mike Retondo-guitar, Tim Lopez-
guitar and DeMar Hamilton-drums.
They played at the House of Blues and
they rocked the House down. Plain White
t's are energetic and have a great rapport
with their audience. Their songs are clever
catchy with great hooks. Everyone there
sang along with 'Hate, I Really Don't Like
You, Our Time Now and Making Memories.
When Tom played Hey There Delilah
everyone was so emotional as they sang
along with every word. The song has one
of the best romantic lyrics, "I'd walk to you
if I had no other way." I can see this song
being a #1 hit and a Grammy nod for sure.
I had the pleasure of speaking with Tom
Higgenson and it was like talking to a
friend. He is very down-to-earth with a
great sense of humor and a caring
attitude.  I asked him where they came
up with Plain White T's.  Tom said, "We
were going through our favorite CD's and
somebody on the cover was always wear-
ing a plain white t." He added, "Everybody
wears them from Marlon Brando to
Michael Jackson to Elvis. They're always
in style. We thought it would fit well with
what we wanted to do with our music."
He started the band in High School with Dave Tirio.
Through the years some members left and were re-
placed by guys from other bands that they knew.
Tom always had a love of music. In 8th grade he
performed an R&B song in a talent show because
he was inspired by Boyz 2 Men.  He played drums
in his Freshman year and then picked up the
guitar. But it was in his Junior year in High School
when he started writing seriously and decided to
pursue music as a career.  He cites his musical
influences as the Beatles, Michael Jackson , Bruce
Springsteen and Jimmy Eat World.  The Plain White
T's music is upbeat rock with honest, sincere and
relatable lyrics.  He writes mostly from his own life
experiences, falling in and out of love and even
takes his friends experiences puts his own spin on it.
Tom said, "The song Figure It Out was written with an
I don't care attitude. I'm proud of that song because I
stepped out of the box. "  So many of their songs are
different they write with everyone's taste in mind.
He was proud of the video for Hey There Delilah be-
cause the director took his playing the acoustic
guitar and added the elements of "Delilah" and the
rest of the band in a box element effect. He thought
that was very cool.  He said the band loves touring
because of the crowd response and they are always
looking forward to the next thing .Don't miss an op-
portunity to hear Plain White T's and make sure to
buy their CD because, "Every Second Counts"
